Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge a Jaguar at home?

The spot price changes every 15 minutes and the night-time network fee is lower than the daytime one. The calculator prices every 15 minutes of charging at the final price of that time and finds the cheapest continuous slot before the charging window ends.

Example: an I-Pace uses 9 kWh from the battery for a 40 km drive. With a 12% charging loss, charging takes 10 kWh from the meter. Charging the battery from 20% to 80% takes 57 kWh from the meter, or almost eight hours with a 7.4 kW charger. 7.4 kW, though, needs a 32 A single-phase supply — from a regular 3×16 A wallbox a single-phase I-Pace gets 3.7 kW and the same charge takes over 15 hours.

The I-Pace (2018–2020) charges from a single phase at 7.4 kW. The newer I-Pace charges from three phases at 11 kW.

Battery and consumption data for the models come from EV Database.

What time is it cheapest to charge a Jaguar electric car at home?

It depends on the day, because the spot price changes every 15 minutes. The calculator shows today’s and tomorrow’s cheapest time from the published prices. At night the Võrk 2 and Võrk 4 network packages have a lower network fee.

Does my I-Pace charge at 7.4 kW or 11 kW?

The I-Pace (2018–2020) has a single-phase 7.4 kW charger. The newer I-Pace charges from three phases at 11 kW. If you are not sure, choose by year — then the calculator does not allow more than the car can take.

Does a 22 kW wallbox make charging faster?

The newer I-Pace charges at home at up to 11 kW, so a 22 kW wallbox adds no speed. The older I-Pace (2018–2020) charges from a single phase at up to 7.4 kW: it gets 3.7 kW from a 3×16 A wallbox and 7.4 kW from a 22 kW (3×32 A) one.

Does the price include the network fee?

Yes. The price is the final price: spot price, seller’s margin, network fee, electricity excise, renewable energy fee and VAT. You can choose your own package and contract in “My settings”.
