Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to charge a Nissan at home?
The spot price changes every 15 minutes and the night-time network fee is lower than the daytime one. The calculator prices every 15 minutes of charging at the final price of that time and finds the cheapest continuous slot before the charging window ends.
Example: a Leaf 40 kWh (2018–2024) uses 6.6 kWh from the battery for a 40 km drive. With a 12% charging loss, charging takes 7.4 kWh from the meter. Charging the battery from 20% to 80% takes 26 kWh from the meter, or four hours with a 6.6 kW charger. From a regular 3×16 A wallbox, though, a single-phase Leaf gets only 3.7 kW — 6.6 kW needs a 32 A single-phase supply. On 3×16 A the same charge takes seven hours.
The Leaf (2011–2024) and e-NV200 charge from a single phase only, at 3.3–6.6 kW depending on the version — a regular 3×16 A wallbox gives them up to 3.7 kW. The Ariya charges at 7.4 kW from a single phase, with 22 kW as an option. The new Leaf (2025–2026) and Micra charge at 11 kW.
Battery and consumption data for the models come from EV Database.
What time is it cheapest to charge a Nissan electric car at home?
It depends on the day, because the spot price changes every 15 minutes. The calculator shows today’s and tomorrow’s cheapest time from the published prices. At night the Võrk 2 and Võrk 4 network packages have a lower network fee.
Why does an older Leaf charge slowly at home?
The Leaf (2011–2024) and e-NV200 use only one phase and charge at 3.3–6.6 kW depending on the version. A regular 3×16 A wallbox gives them up to 3.7 kW; 6.6 kW needs a 32 A supply. Charging takes longer, which makes choosing the cheapest time more important. In the calculator, choose your battery and charger variant to see whether charging fits into the night.
Does a 22 kW charger make charging cheaper?
The amount of energy and its price stay the same, but charging takes half as long. It can then fit into the cheapest part of the night, which can make charging cheaper. In the calculator, choose the 22 kW variant and “Wallbox 3×32 A (22 kW)” to see the difference.
Does the price include the network fee?
Yes. The price is the final price: spot price, seller’s margin, network fee, electricity excise, renewable energy fee and VAT. You can choose your own package and contract in “My settings”.
