Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge a Toyota at home?

The spot price changes every 15 minutes and the night-time network fee is lower than the daytime one. The calculator prices every 15 minutes of charging at the final price of that time and finds the cheapest continuous slot before the charging window ends.

Example: a bZ4X 64 kWh uses 7.3 kWh from the battery for a 40 km drive. With a 12% charging loss, charging takes 8.2 kWh from the meter. Charging the battery from 20% to 80% takes 43 kWh from the meter, or six and a half hours with a 6.6 kW charger and under four hours with an 11 kW one. 6.6 kW, though, needs a 32 A single-phase supply — from a regular 3×16 A wallbox a single-phase bZ4X gets 3.7 kW and the same charge takes almost 12 hours.

The bZ4X (2022–2025) usually charges from a single phase at 6.6 kW, with 11 kW as an option. Newer bZ4Xs and the C-HR+ charge at 11 kW, and the C-HR+ has 22 kW as an option. The Proace Verso and Proace City Verso charge at 7.4 kW from a single phase or 11 kW from three phases.

Battery and consumption data for the models come from EV Database.

What time is it cheapest to charge a Toyota electric car at home?

It depends on the day, because the spot price changes every 15 minutes. The calculator shows today’s and tomorrow’s cheapest time from the published prices. At night the Võrk 2 and Võrk 4 network packages have a lower network fee.

Does my bZ4X charge at 6.6 kW or 11 kW?

The bZ4X (2022–2025) came with a single-phase 6.6 kW charger as standard; a three-phase 11 kW charger was an option. From late 2025 the bZ4X charges at 11 kW. If you are not sure, choose the 6.6 kW variant — then the calculator does not allow more than the car can take.

Does a 22 kW charger make charging cheaper?

The amount of energy and its price stay the same, but charging takes half as long. It can then fit into the cheapest part of the night, which can make charging cheaper. In the calculator, choose the 22 kW variant and “Wallbox 3×32 A (22 kW)” to see the difference.

Does the price include the network fee?

Yes. The price is the final price: spot price, seller’s margin, network fee, electricity excise, renewable energy fee and VAT. You can choose your own package and contract in “My settings”.
